Donna, a member of the Midwest Lampworkers Guild, was the inspiration behind the first Art in the Bag Event. She was a multi-talented artist with a long interest in quilting and beadwork.   In 2008, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and underwent treatment.   Donna was a good friend to many and had a very warm heart.   She fought her battle with ovarian cancer with great dignity and sadly, we lost Donna in January 2013.  She was 64 years young and has left a legacy to our community.

The guild and committee members hope that this benefit help, in a small way, to help make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by cancer.

In 2012, The Midwest Lampworkers Guild adopted Beads of Courage as the official beneficiary of the Art in the Bag event.  Beads of Courage is an arts-in-medicine program for children with serious illness.   Through our annual event, we have been able to bring the Beads of Courage program to Omaha Children's Hospital and Medical Center.  Ongoing fundraising has helped to grow and sustain the local program with some funds also supporting the International program.
